Board of Commissioners

The Greenfield Housing Authority is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners. The Mayor of Greenfield appoints four of the board members, and the Governor appoints one, subject to confirmation by the Greenfield City Council. The Commissioners are responsible for approving the agency's annual budget and for setting policy. Greenfield Housing Authority's Executive Director serves the Board. Regular Board meetings are usually held monthly at 6 PM on the 4th Thursday of the month at 1 Elm Terrace.

Rich Fahey, Chairman, Personnel Committee – Term 2013

Rich Fahey is a native of Greenfield and a graduate of Greenfield High School. After graduating from Bowling Green (Ohio) State University, he returned to Greenfield.

Rich, and his wife Kathie, have a son, daughter and two granddaughters, all living in Franklin County.

Rich is employed by The Recorder. He joined the advertising sales staff in 1975, where he has held several positions. Rich has been the advertising director since 1992.

He has been active in several local organizations, sitting on many boards and serving on numerous committees. Rich became involved in the Greenfield Housing Authority in June of 2011. He is currently the board chairman.

Rich and Kathie are both avid golfers.

Dennis LaShier, Governor Appointee – Term 2014

Dennis (Denny) LaShier was elected to the board, of the Greenfield Housing Authority, in 1974 and remained on the board until 1994. In 2006, he was appointed to the board, by the Governor, and he currently holds the position of Chairman.

Denny was also a City Councilor for the Town of Greenfield from 2004-2008. He has been a volunteer for multiple organizations, and is currently a member and the past President of the Franklin County Rotary Club. He has been a volunteer there since 1972. Denny has also been a member and the Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board since 1973.

Denny worked for 47 years at Art's Tire Service, and was the co-owner for 30 of those years. He retired in the year 2000 and worked part-time for G.B.I. Marketing from 2001-2004 and part-time at the Greenfield Visitor's Center from 2001-2010.

Denny enjoys traveling to his second home in St. Croix, with his wife Carol, his two daughters and his grand and great-grandchildren.

Timothy J. Strahan, Vice- Chairman, Personnel Committee – Term 2017

Timothy (TJ) Strahan was elected to the board, of the Greenfield Housing Authority, in April of 1977. TJ is the longest consecutive serving commissioner on the board, having held every position multiple times. His 35 continuous years on the board include positions as Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Member. He currently remains in the position of Vice-Chairman.

TJ began working in the Juke Box Operation business in 1969 and began his own company in 1975, known as Playmor Music. He also spent a lifelong career in the Entertainment and Major Motion Picture, Rare Collectible Business. He started his own collectible business in the 1980s, known as TJ's Collectibles.

TJ is currently retired. He is presently working part-time for the University of Massachusetts. He loves to spend his free time visiting with his grandchildren and traveling.

Elizabeth Serrano, Treasurer – Term 2016

Elizabeth (Liz) Serrano was elected to the board, of the Greenfield Housing Authority, in November 2010. Liz is the tenant representative, and she advocates compassionately on their behalf.

Liz was a board member at Four Winds School in Gill, MA for 4 years. She was also the treasurer for 3 of those years. She has previously worked as a Medical Biller/Collections Specialist.

Currently she is running her own business, know as At Your Service, doing medical billing. She also works part-time for a local dentist doing collections.

Liz loves to spend her free time visiting with her 4 children and two grandchildren.

William Mason, Mayor Appointee – Term 2014

William (Bill) Mason was elected to the board, of the Greenfield Housing Authority, in January of 2012. Bill is a lifelong resident of Greenfield and a graduate of Greenfield High School, Greenfield Community College, and the University of Massachusetts. He received his MBA from Western New England University.

Bill has over twenty years of experience in the Building Materials Industry. During his career, Bill has worked with several non-profits and organizations to enhance the overall living conditions of homes. In 2007, Bill worked on a Habitat for Humanity project in New Orleans called Musician’s Village. Musician’s Village was a project to rebuild housing in the ninth ward after the area was struck by hurricane Katrina. In 2011, Bill worked on a North American Decking and Railing project called Deck for a Soldier in Dracut, MA. The recipient of the free material and labor was Maj. Dave Brouillette who has earned two Bronze stars, a Purple Heart and many other medals and awards.

Bill is currently employed as a District Sales Manager for the Trex Company covering the New England marketplace. Bill spends his free time with his family and likes to visit historical places throughout New England.
